Located just 10 km off the coast, it is easily accessible from Piombino Marittima, with numerous ferries and hydrofoils operating daily and reaching the island in about one hour.<\/p><p>Elba has a population of approximately 35,000 inhabitants, spread across seven municipalities. Portoferraio, the island\u2019s capital, is the most populous, with around 12,000 residents.
